Truth Revealed #274

1 Corinthians 2:10-11
10 For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.
11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man, which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God. (NAS)
1 Corinthians 2:16 For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he should instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ. (NAS)
The deep things of God are not known by your abilities or knowledge. They are revealed to you by God’s Spirit. To know and to understand the things of God is to allow the Holy Spirit to be our teacher. God made it clear that his thoughts are not our thoughts and his ways are not our ways. True wisdom is to understand things from God’s perspective and the only way that can happen is that the Holy Spirit shows you. The scripture is not understood by man’s grasp but by illumination of the Word through God’s Holy Spirit.

When the Apostle Peter was asked by Jesus, “Who do you say that I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus then explained to Peter that his understanding did not come from human abilities or knowledge, but by God revealing Himself. The only way you know the spiritual things of God is through God revealing the truth to you. God lives in every believer through the Holy Spirit.

The only one who really knows what is in your thoughts is you. It is your human spirit that knows what is in you. It is also true of your thoughts and understanding and knowledge of God. It only comes from God’s Spirit. You have the mind of Christ.

Trusting God to reveal truth to your life is dependent on you allowing the Holy Spirit to reveal truth to you. Be open to God’s revelation of Himself, His work, His truth and His ways in your life.  Trust God. He does want you to know the deep things of God. Let Him be your teacher.

Greetings from Starbucks in beautiful Tempe, AZ

This is why we live in Arizona!! Those of us who are privileged to live in the Valley of the Sun here those words often this time of year. We have endured the HOT summer and have entered the "why we live here" time. The days are a pleasant 75-80 degrees, the nights are in the upper 50s, and the sun shines. If you get tired of the cold weather in the rest of the world, come to beautiful Tempe, AZ.

I have often asked you to pray for opportunities for ministry for both Sandy and me. We are enjoying the doors your prayers have opened. Sandy continues to teach the "Young Mom's" group on Tuesday mornings. I am preaching almost every Sunday at the Intersect Service at First Baptist Church of Tempe. The schedule has me preaching all except a few Sundays between now and April. God certainly has blessed. This coming Sunday (November 10th) Sandy and I will both be speaking in a Marriage Class at City of Grace Church in Mesa, AZ.
We will be with friends who lead the class, Mel and Shawnee Worters. Pray for our time with them.

The grandson's continue to bless us. This past week Bennett and Burke were participants in a school program called Performing Arts Exhibition. They sang a duet together and Burke played the ukelele and whistled. Bennett also did a dramatic reading. Both were super.

Little Justin turned 11 months old on Sunday and decided it was time to walk. Although he was seven weeks early, the visiting nurse told Mandy he is doing things that a one year old should be doing. God is good.

Sandy and I had the fun time of going trick or treating with the four younger grandsons. Bennett, a high school junior, thought it would be more fun to be with friends. The other boys went door to door gathering candy and having a great time. Of course Sandy and I watched with swelling pride as we thought how blessed we were.  Again God is good.

We have our busy time coming up this next few weeks. All three of our children were born in December. We start celebrating with Thanksgiving. Susan's birthday is December 1. Justin's birthday is December 3. Roger's birthday is December 7. Mandy's birthday is December 19. Jesus birthday is December 25. Collin's birthday is December 28. Dennis files for bankruptcy on January 1. (just kidding about that) We have many church activities during that same time period. I look forward to all the fun times with family, friends, and church.

I will have all my tests run at the end of November. Results will be available in early December. The tests include: MRI and lab work. Please pray for good results. Most of the time I feel good. There are days when I am very aware that I still have cancer. Thankfully they are not often. Remember God is good.

I pray for you and ask God to continue to bring glory to Him no matter what you are facing in life. God is good.  ~ DGW
