The Morning Is Coming #310

Psalm 30:5b                                                                                Weeping may spend the night, but there is joy in the morning.
Ever go to bed with pain in your heart, your mind filled with stinking thinking, and an overall attitude of catastrophizing? Did you discover the tears trickling off your cheek onto your pillow and you just knew there was no hope? Don’t feel badly. You are not alone. It is a common dilemma to see things darkly at night; it is not because it is dark outside or because the sun has gone down. It is because night is a time to dwell on the negative things of life.
But just wait! The morning is coming and the light will shine in the darkness and overwhelm it. JOY comes in the morning even after a dark night. Someone has likely said to you, “Why don’t you just go to bed and get a good night’s rest, everything will be better in the morning.” Guess what? It will be.
The more important question you may struggle with is, why do I have to wait until morning. There is a story in the New Testament of a night  of doom that overcame the disciples. They were in a boat out in the Sea of Galilee when a terrible storm came up. They were catastrophizing. They were sure they would all die a horrible death.
Matthew 14:22-27 Immediately He made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of Him to the other side, while He sent the crowds away. 23 After He had sent the crowds away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray; and when it was evening, He was there alone. 24 But the boat was already a long distance from the land, battered by the waves; for the wind was contrary. 25 And in the]fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea. 26 When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out in fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.”
You don’t have to wait for morning. Remember Jesus knows what is happening. He is prepared to come to you at any time. He is THE LORD OF THE NIGHT WATCH. Even though you may be full of fear in the night He will come to you anytime.  He tells you to take courage, “It is I; do not be afraid.”

Greetings from Starbucks in beautiful Tempe, AZ
Are you not glad when you have faced a difficult time to be able to say, "I have turned the corner?" Well that is what I can say. Through your prayers and some great doctors I believe I have turned the corner. Things are looking up. Still not nearly back to strength and stamina but that will come.

I will be speaking at First Baptist Church of Tempe's Senior Adult group at a luncheon on September 18th. It will be the first time speaking to a group since June the 8th. I am so thrilled to have the opportunity.

Sandy has been the most incredible caregiver that you can imagine. She tells me it is because she loves me. That blows me away. Not that she loves me, but loves me in spite of all she has seen and experience during this summer she still does.  She is a wonderful wife. We celebrated our 48th anniversary on Thursday. Nothing spectacular, but at least we were together and got out of the house and did some shopping and lunch.

(see updated pic) Guess which one is recent. Your right. One was taken at Mt Zion Baptist Church in 1968. The other September 7, 2014. We have not changed at all. LOL LOL LOL

I am back at Starbucks as you can see. I really missed the ministry there and seeing so many of you. Drop by anytime, but please give me call because I am not there everyday (YET).

The 5th of September I did something I had said I would never do. YES., I JOINED FACE BOOK. Already have over 300 friends. Look me up.

I am enjoying the opportunity to once again have a brain that works. Study, writing, and talking are so enjoyable to me. For two and a half months, because of illness and medications the brain pretty well shut down. Looked in the mirror some mornings and really wondered who that guy looking back at me was. I now recognize him most mornings. He sure looks old. LOL

I so enjoy hearing from all of you. Check out the devotional this week. Think it will bless you, Hope so. God is soooo good!!

Blessings to all of you.  ~ DGW
